Monsanto GMOs and Pollution
Until 1996, RoundUP weed killer was labeled ‘Biodegradable’ in the US even though Monsanto had a ‘confidential’ company report stating only 2% of the product had broken down in soil after 28 days.
Now I realize that after awhile, we often get tired of hearing news we think we have heard before and certainly the ‘Evil Empire of Monsanto’ has been clearly identified as Enemy Number One.
However, until we are united, as both consumers and individuals, to do absolutely EVERYTHING in our power to make them stop poisoning us with genetically modified organisms, GMO foods, GM seeds, and toxic chemicals for our home gardens, they will continue to do this.
Watch this trailer version of “The World According To Monsanto” because even we were enlightened by facts we had no idea were documented in videos and medical papers and not just rumored:
1. Ken Cook, President of Environmental Working Group “We would never trust a company like Monsanto to tell the truth about a pollution problem or a product. We would never trust them.”
2. William Sanjour, Environmental Protection Agency 1970-2001 Branch Chief, Hazardous Waste Management Division
“I would never trust this company.”
3. In a study conducted by Robert Belle, Ph D at the French National Center for Scientific Research it was discovered and reported that Round Up provokes the first stages that lead to Cancer.
4. During his days as Vice president, George Bush Sr. toured the Monsanto company and told them he would help them push through the GMO “Round Up” ready seeds they were bringing to market. He fulfilled his promise during his Presidency.
The question so many of us get stuck on is, “What can I do about this?!”
It is such a simple business equation and each one of us can dramatically affect a change – here’s how – STOP buying their products!
How do we do that? By paying attention to all the foods they grow and stop eating them as much as possible. I understand how hard and expensive it appears to be on our side of the fence…
Organic fruits, veggies, eggs, and meats are expensive compared to conventionally grown ones, but that is actually a relative perspective. If we had always paid for the raising of ’real live’ foods we wouldn’t look at $4-5 a dozen eggs as “Expensive”, we wouldn’t be eating Frankenstein Foods and we also wouldn’t be looking at the continued rise in obesity, Cancer, and Diabetes for both adults and children.
These are directly connected, Cause and Effect aspects to our health.
We must consider the high cost of cheap food and what is wrong with our food system.
It can’t be said any better than by this young man named Birke Baehr who at the time of his TED X presentation was 11 years old.
