The Beautiful Truth…about GMOs, Processed Foods, and The Hazards to Our Health

This documentary makes excellent points on the health predicaments we face…this is a highlighted list:

1. How the Gerson therapy/diet is successfully healing cancers to diabetes
2. How processed foods are the cause of tooth decay
3. How genetically engineered foods are backed by the Big 5 chemical companies; Monsanto, DuPont, Bayer, DOW, and Sygenta
4. What is the real threat of MSG and the dozens of names it now has within our foods

Some of the info does bump up against a few things that are counter to Ray Peat’s work about fats, but the overall message is as Hippocrates is quoted as saying:

“Let food be your medicine and let medicine be your food.”

I do wish there weren’t any ads, but they give you the option to skip them as they come up.
Get comfy this is really informative!

As the evidence stacks up proving that processed food is our Number One Health Hazard, “the processed food industry is hoping the average citizen is too busy, too lazy, or unsophisticated to be able to understand the subtleties of the science being discussed.”

Are they talking about you and me? YES.

11 Year Old Says NO To GMO and Industrial Food

Our Hat is off to this young man who presents a strong plea for Sanity to show up with regard to our industrialized food system. What he discovered about industrial farming prompted him to research the real conditions our meat is raised in, on large commercial farms, as well as the genetic modifications, GMO, occurring in the labs and being injected in our foods.

He encourages us to shop at our local farmers market (where we can ask if the cow ate grass and the pig rolled in the mud) so we can track the source of our food chain.

Please give him the next 5 minutes. He makes great points on a subject many of us are already facing.

Yes organic and local farm raised food appears to be more expensive…but he asks us to look at it this way –
Spend a little more money on real food, or spend it on a hospital bill!

What Most Of Us Call Food, ISN’T!

Do you really know what you are eating? If you care, read on…

Food product labels say “Delicious, Natural, Homemade” but these are simply words from the marketing companies hired to make you buy whatever product that company is selling.

WHATEVER that company is selling!! It has nothing to do with the picture of the little Grandma character on the wrapper. It has nothing to do with being natural. More than 80% of the world’s packaged food supply is owned by the Asian countries. Most of our food is not from the US… Made in China/Thailand/etc. is also the source of a majority of our food found in the grocery store aisles.

Labels are written by silver tongued professionals that have studied the trigger points that an average American consumer will respond to. From TV commercials and poster ads, right down to the packaging, it is a science. And we are the guinea pigs. (Please catch my pun on pigs) :-)

Alex Jones does an amazing video presenting some solid facts about the back office details of what most Americans are serving up for dinner tonight.

Part One

We are actually eating plastic-based fillers like modified food starch, margarine, and dozens of other polymer based compounds.

We are eating genetically modified organisms…GMOs…these are not as nature intended and they are leaving us with all kinds of strange biological sheddings.

We are eating by-products from the petro-chemical industry that are added to livestock feed.

We are eating residues of toxic herbicides and pesticides that have been banned throughout most of Europe!

This is an abbreviated list.

Part Two

TIPS for eating better:

Get out of the supermarket. Try buying foods at farmers’ markets or through community-supported agriculture programs.

Pay attention to what your food eats. Buying meat from grass-fed cows or wild-caught fish is more nutritious than their corn-fed counterparts.

Get out the cookbook and learn the lost art of cooking. Fast food dinner solutions that are designed with the microwave in mind are very low in nutrients and high in non-edibles.

The Impossible Task of Avoiding GMOs

Most people are aware by now the dangers of consuming genetically modified food. Still, I have so many friends and maybe readers out there who are not so aware. It is becoming harder and harder to avoid GMO’s and because of a potential new law it could soon be impossible.

Here are the basics for those who need a wake up call….

Tip #1: Buy Organic
Certified organic products cannot be produced using GMO ingredients. So if you can, buy only products labeled “100% organic”, “organic,” or “made with organic ingredients.”

Tip #2: Look for “non-GMO” labels
Companies may voluntarily label products as “non-GMO.” Some labels state “non-GMO” while others spell out “Made Without Genetically Modified Ingredients.” Products that carry the Non-GMO Project Seal have third party verification as being in compliance with Non-GMO Project standards for GMO avoidance. Some products limit their claim to only one particular “At-Risk” ingredient such as soy lecithin, listing it as “non-GMO.” Look for dairy products labeled “No rBGH or rBST,” or “artificial hormone-free.”

Tip #3: Avoid at-risk ingredients
If it’s not labeled organic, avoid products made with the “Big Four” GM crops: Corn, Soybeans, Canola, and Cottonseed, used in processed foods. Also, more than 50% of Hawaiian papaya is GM and a small amount of zucchini and yellow squash. Also, become familiar with our list of invisible GM ingredients and avoid sugar from GM Sugar Beets.

Corn
• Corn flour, meal, oil, starch, gluten, and syrups
• Sweeteners such as fructose, dextrose, and glucose
• Modified food starch*

Soy
• Soy flour, lecithin, protein, isolate, and isoflavone
• Vegetable oil* and vegetable protein*

Canola Canola oil (also called rapeseed oil)

Cotton Cottonseed oil
Sugar Avoid anything not listed as 100% cane sugar. GM beet sugar recently entered the food supply. To avoid it, look for organic and non-GMO sweeteners, candy and chocolate made with 100% cane sugar, evaporated cane juice or organic sugar.

Aspartame
The artificial sweetener also known as NutraSweet and Equal, which is derived from GM microorganisms.

Tip #4: Download the shopping guide
Use it when you write out your shopping list. Keep it with you whenever you shop and buy products listed in the Guide. Store it inside your reusable shopping bag, put in your coupon holder or checkbook, or leave it in your car.

GMO labeling proposal threatens your ability to know whats in your food

Dear Friends,

If the U.S. government has its way, a powerful intergovernmental group you’ve probably never heard of may soon prevent anyone anywhere from labeling genetically modified (GMO) food.

According to draft language circulated by the FDA, the U.S. will oppose a proposal at an upcoming meeting of an important United Nations committee that would allow the labeling of genetically engineered food.

We need to act now to prevent this international policy change that would threaten our ability to know what’s in our food.

I just signed a petition asking the U.S. Delegation to the committee meeting to drop its opposition to the GMO labeling proposal.
